Afro-Preachah Starts 2009 with Twin Cities Best Hustler Nomination
The 3rd Annual Twin Cities Hip Hop Awards nominate Afro-Preachah for Twin Cities Best Hustler

Minneapolis, MN (Tripple Sul Entertainment) January 3, 2009 -- Minnesota’s funk daddy of Hip Hop is nominated for a very fitting Twin Cities Hip Hop award, Twin Cities Best Hustler. The 3rd Annual Twin Cities Hip-Hop Awards show is scheduled for January 31st, 2009 at the Varsity Theater and is presented by High Society Ink.

“This is the first time I have been nominated for a Twin Cities Hip Hop Award.” said Afro about the nomination. “I am excited about being recognized for my hustle, especially by my peers right here in the Twin Cities.” Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Afro often came to the Twin Cities to visit family. After some time spent in the military and being stationed at Fort Snelling, Afro decided to make Minnesota his new home. “It was different here. I saw myself being more prosperous. Don’t get me wrong I love Kansas City and the people there. That is where I got the hustle from. Growing up I had to run and fight to stay away from the cops and the gangs. A lot of people can not understand that unless you lived it. Minnesota was presented to me as a new start, and after seeing other parts of the world with the military I wanted to take my hustle to a new level, and Minnesota was the place to do it.”

Afro’s manager Kimberly Steward was nominated for this same award during the 1st Annual Hip Hop Awards. “When Kim[berly] was nominated, we did not know anything about the award show,” said Afro. “One day she got message on MySpace talking about congratulations. We were shook, we didn’t even know where the show was going to be. But now they have definitely gotten on their hustle to make it better. When you look at other cities, especially down south, they have award shows that truly elevate their talent. So, I am proud that the Twin Cities has this type of thing going on.”

Voting for this award is open to the public. To vote visit http://www.myspace.com/tchiphopawards. Twin Cities Best Hustler category is the third category down from the top, and Afro-Preachah is the last name listed. When asked about other nominee‘s this is what Afro had to say. “Even though I do not know all of the people in the category with me, I respect each one of their hustle. While you are voting, also look out for my people. One of my producers, Sandman is nominated for best producer and MPLS Mayor. My boy Trama is nominated for multiple awards, one being Song Of The Year. Long time and coming my boy Truth Maze for Best Knowledge Spitter. Last but not least, my boys Rico Nevotion, Tek, & BDF. If I didn’t name you, charge it to my head and not my heart.”
